If you have ordered a Demo License to check out Vienna Instruments PRO, the license download procedure is the same. You will receive a 30 days/30 starts demo license. With this demo license, you can recharge your starts as often as you like by clicking Maintenance in the eLicenser Control Center. Problem: missing Soft-eLicenser. In rare cases, the Soft-eLicenser cannot be created during the installation. If the Soft-eLicenser is missing the activation code needed for the permanent activation of the program cannot be requested. Downloading licenses is also not possible without a Soft-eLicenser (unless a USB-eLicenser is connected).
To install Vienna Instruments PRO, you will need the corresponding license available on your ViennaKey. You have received Activation Codes right after your purchase – these Activation Codes are needed to download your permanent licenses.
Once a Vienna Instruments PRO license is available on your ViennaKey, you can choose between using the original Vienna Instruments and Vienna Instruments PRO – be it in your sequencer or in Vienna Ensemble (PRO).
eLicenser Control Center
The eLicenser Control Center manages your licenses. Please make sure that you are using the latest version, available at www.elicenser.net.
Remember that you need a ViennaKey (or a Steinberg or Arturia eLicenser, formerly Syncrosoft) to store your licenses on. You should register your key with us, so that you are safe in case of damage (the first 6 or 7 digits of the key are important, as shown on the screenshot below).
Downloading your license is simple: Make sure your ViennaKey is inserted, launch eLicenser Control Center , click on Enter Activation Code and paste your Activation Code into the respective field. You will be guided through the rest of the procedure. An Internet connection has to be available for this process. You can of course download your license on any Internet computer, in case your music computer is not connected to the Internet.
If your license download was interrupted for any reason, please click Maintenance (in the upper right corner) – this will complete your license download automatically!
Remember that you will need the sample content and the licenses of the given Vienna Instruments Collections as well as the latest Vienna Instruments PRO software installed alongside with a ViennaKey on your computers!

Directory Manager
The Vienna Instruments software includes a utility called the Vienna Instruments Directory Manager which keeps track of the drives and folders your data is installed in, providing that information for Vienna Instruments PRO. Your Sample Content is assigned automatically when you install a new Vienna Instruments Collection.
You can look up the details on the Directory Manager in your Vienna Instruments Manual, here we will focus on the only new addition with Vienna Instruments PRO, which is the Time Stretch Cache folder: Define the location where your stretched samples will be stored. Staccato Patches will take less space, Performance Legato Patches with up to 1000 samples per patch will produce quite some additional data.
Set a Size Limit for your time stretch cache folder. If the stretch cache reaches the set limit, Vienna Instruments PRO will automatically clean up the disk space. If you are using Time Stretching a lot, make sure to have a high Size Limit (default: 100 GB). If possible, don't assign the Time Stretch Cache Folder to your system drive.

- When using SSD drives (in this case, drive 'I'), you can set the Preload Size for the folders on this drive to a lower setting (default is 16384 Samples, which is good for conventional drives). You can select multiple folders at once.
Tip
Setting a lower preload size will allow you to load up to 10 times (!!) more samples while substantially lowering loading times.
Cross-reference: As soon as you have assigned different Preload Sizes in the Directory Manager, you cannot set the Default Preload Size in the Settings Tab of Vienna Instruments PRO 2 anymore!
The Custom Data Folder that contains all your customized presets and matrices can easily be assigned to a location of your choice:

The Vienna Instruments Library Installer takes care of the installation of your Vienna Instruments DVD Collections , your Download Instruments and the MIR PRO Roompacks.
Start the Vienna Instruments Library Installer, point it to the 'package.info' file on your DVD #1 and you will be guided through the installation process.
